First Annual PCYC
Easter Parade on the Canals

In an Easter Bonnet, with the all the frills upon it,
They were the grandest ladies in the Easter Parade.
Okay, technically it probably wasn’t a parade. There was only one boat. But it was decorated, and festive and it brought smiles, waves and compliments from people all along the Palm Coast canals.
The “parade” started from the Potochick dock just before noon on the Saturday before Easter 2023. The weather was just about perfect for an afternoon on the water. The captain had bunny ears until he went on plane in the ICW and they were suddenly gone with the wind.
There was an Easter-themed music playlist. The group visited the docks of several members who live on the canals. Neighbors came out to wave and wish the group a Happy Easter.
The afternoon ended with a potluck lunch on the pool deck at the Potochick home. Plans are already underway to do it again next year.
Fancy Hats at Derby Party

While the fleet was enjoying a Cinco de Mayo weekend cruise at Camachee Cove, other members chose to celebrate the Kentucky Derby in style at our European Village Clubhouse.
As with many PCYC gatherings, there was too much food. There were appetizers, a full luncheon with Kentucky favorites and dessert which featured pecan pie.
The actual race was only about two minutes long, but participants were kept entertained with trivia games, race day scratch off cards and a generous payout for some of those who correctly guessed the horses that won, placed and showed.
There was also a chance to visit with friends and prospective members.
Everyone took time to check out the extensive decorations and admire each other’s Derby Day outfits. Rear Commodore Terry Franklin dressed up as a jockey. There were also fancy hats, frilly dresses, ascots and bow ties.
The prize for best outfit went to Karl Reiser and Deb Royle , seen here with event co-chair Lynn Toben.
Ice Cream Social
Cool Way to Spend a Hot Day

The second annual Ice Cream Social was held Saturday, June 29, 2024 at the home of Linda Allen. About 30 members and a few friends mixed ice cream with everything from Oreo crumbs to Salted Caramel Whiskey.
Rear Commodore Terry Camilleri and her helpers, Barbara Kipnis and Lynn Grattan kept the group in cool treats.
One of the highlights of the afternoon was a game of “Pin The Cone on the Ice Cream Truck.”
Our hostess was the winner, receiving a gift card to, of course, an ice cream shop.
And That's How
The Cookie Crumbles

…or fails to set up, or breaks a tooth, or has to be thrown away.
The second annual Valentine Cookie Swap was a delicious success, but the baking part was apparently a master class in Murphy’s Law!
Lone male participant Barry Kipnis brought beautifully decorated butterscotch treats. The process went smoothly for him, and for Barbara who made tasty red hot cinnamon cookies.
But several of the other participants shared tales of woe, along with what their cookies. There was talk of cake pops that didn’t come together as planned. One of the club’s best bakers arrived late because she was finishing up a replacement batch because the first just didn’t work. Another baker also had to pivot to plan B when she taste-tested one of her original turtle cookies and lost a crown to the overcooked caramel.
2023 Change
of Watch

The Change of Watch marks the passing of Command to the newly elected Commodore and bridge and also serves to introduce the other Officers and Directors for 2023.
This year’s ceremony was held on January 15 at The Italian American Club.
The evening began with a social hour. Guests gathered around the bar and enjoyed what seemed to be a never-ending trays of appealing appetizers.
The program followed with Past Commodores Bill Sulser and Jim Dupuy relieving 2022 officers of their duties and installing the 2023 officers. The new bridge includes Commodore Candyce Schmidt, Vice Commodore Sarah Ulis, Rear Commodore Terry Franklin, Fleet Captain Otis Gilyard, Secretary Barbara Kipnis, Treasurer Steve Franklin and, Member At Large Ramone Vazquez.

Mimosa Sunday
with a Valentine’s Tint

“Valentine’s Day is commonly celebrated with the one(s) you love. I didn’t want anyone to feel unthought of or unloved this year because I do love all of you,” That was the part of the invitation from Rear Commodore Terry Franklin. Members were invited to the clubhouse for an afternoon of treats, mimosas, games, and prizes.
Most members wore red in honor of the occasion. The popular mimosa also took on a red glow for Valentine’s Day. While the bottle of orange juice just sat untouched, glasses of bubbly were topped off with pomegranate juice and a raspberry for a “Hibiscus” version of the brunch beverage.
There was plenty of food to go along with the drink. After trying sandwiches, salad, deviled eggs and more, there was also a dessert table.
